THDS Student Ministries and WCMI are in the process of raising funds for the at risk youth in our city and surrounding areas. We live Jacksonville, Florida and for the last couple of years our homicide rate has increase dramatically in the lives of our young people. Our ultimate goal is to open a youth center for our city within the next year. We want to help with the war on drugs, truancy, teen pregnancy and murder. The youth center will house every youth in the city in our downtown area. We then want to expand to a non-profit boarding school for middle and high school kids. It will benefit parents who work unwanted hours that can’t be there for their child like they would like. The child will have a place to go after school to live, study, and develop life skills that will carry them into adulthood and establish friendships for life. The parents are more than welcome to come at any time and visit their child. It’s a great opportunity for a parent to know that their child has clothes, food, school supplies, a safe place to stay and other adults that love them as much as they. The school will offer courses like aviation, culinary arts, nursing, early childhood development etc. It will be a citywide effort recruiting teachers, school and city bus drivers to bus the kids to school and the youth center. We will need social workers, police department, volunteers, trainers and support from colleges that will offer support with scholarships and programs. Since it will be non-profit there will need to be major funding and support from people who believe in this cause.
